Rangers Hammer Kano Pillars to Go Top of NPFL

Nwaodu Chukwudi scored twice with Godwin Obaje and Isaac Saviour adding the other goals as Enugu Rangers came from a goal down to beat Kano Pillars 4-1 yesterday at the Awka Stadium.

The win moved the Flying Antelopes to the summit of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on  10 points from five matches. 

The table may not change today as second-placed Remo Stars who were due to take on Enyimba have been told to tarry awhile. Enyimba were away in Morocco for the African Football League fixture that went awry for the Aba Elephant in massive defeat.

Muhammad Yakubu gave Kano Pillars the lead in the 11th minute.

Rangers levelled from the spot through Godwin Obaje on 24 minutes.

Isaac Saviour gave Rangers the lead for the first time six minutes before hour mark. 

Nwaodu Chukwudi scored twice to wrap up the game for the Flying Antelopes.

At the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, hosts Bendel Insurance played a goalless draw with Akwa United while Sadiq Shuabu scored from the spot on the dot of 90 minutes as Gombe United defeated Plateau United 1-0 at the the Pantami Township Stadium.

The six remaining Match-day five games will be played today across five cities.
