Ebonyi PDP Chair Allegedly Assaults Woman Leader over Xmas Largesse

Ebonyi State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Onyekachi Nwebonyi has allegedly assaulted the state’s Woman Leader of Akubaraoha Youths Assembly, Hon. Chinyere Nwele over disagreement that ensued on the Christmas largesse given to the Assembly by the state governor, Engr. David Umahi.

The Party Chairman was alleged to have beaten the Woman Leader at his country home in Izzi when the leaders of the Assembly thronged the Chairman’s house to recover the largesse, which was claimed to have been diverted to his house.

THISDAY gathered that trouble ensued when the agitators invaded the chairman’s house to demand the release of Umahi’s largesse of Ebonyi local government area which was traced to Nwebonyi’s house only for the Council’s Coordinator and ally to the chairman to frame that the woman Leader slapped him, that allegedly provoked the PDP Chairman to descend violently on the Woman Leader.

The victim narrated that since the incident happened the chairman has not expressed remorse over his action, raising alarm over threat to her life.

Sources alleged that two pregnant women were also injured when the fisticuffs erupted, as the Woman Leader escaped by whiskers through the intervention of other women and National President of the Assembly, Hon. Mark Onu.

Eye witness noted that the Chairman was at the back of his house when the agitators invaded his house only to surface in anger, wearing only white singlet after the boy allegedly reported to him that the Woman Leader slapped him.

THISDAY gathered that the Chairman did not ask question immediately he met the leaders of the Assembly at his gate, but angrily swooped on the woman and tore her cloth.

The Victim was said to have escaped with bruises and blood while the injured pregnant women were rushed to undisclosed hospitals.

However, the PDP boss dismissed the allegation as frivolous; stressing that he never had any personal contact with the said lady and anybody who publishes it would face his wrath.

I never had any personal contact with the said lady and the

allegations are defamatory of which I hereby warn that you refuse same. But you are hereby warned that the said report is not true and publishing same attracts defamatory suit to your establishment, Nwebonyi replied.
