The Paradise, Coca-Cola, Partner International Pairs
As preparations for the 2018 edition of the annual International Pairs golf competition gather momentum, The Paradise, Abuja, has thrown its weight behind the event as one of the main sponsors. Also backing the competition is Coca-Cola.
Revealing this in a chat with newsmen during the week, the Chief Executive Officer of Falcon Golf Development Company, (FGDC) Remi Olukoya said, “The Paradise’s decision to partner FGDC in this year’s event was as a result of the new initiatives that the organisers have initiated to make the competition a national affair.
He said unlike the previous editions where winners were chosen from a one-leg tournament, this year’s event would be taken around the country to reflect its true national status, offering sponsors better mileage.
He added that the coming of The Paradise, Abuja and Coca-Cola, therefore was a big boost for the event and would make it more competitive.
Olukoya also confirmed that FGDC was working very hard to get other corporate outfits involved in the championship, adding that before the zonal qualifiers start, other sponsors would have come on board.
Already, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Lagos have been scheduled to host the regional qualifiers before the final billed for Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The winning team in Uyo would be given an all-expense-paid trip to the world final in Portugal where they would compete with teams from Caribbean, Czech Republic, Egypt, England, Ireland, Israel, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, United Arab Emirates, United States and Wales.
Since its inception 20-years ago, more than half a million amateur golfers from over 30 countries have competed in the exciting, friendly and hugely prestigious event.
Former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Esosa Ojomo are the defending champions.
