Publisher of Sahara Reporters and one of the presidential aspirants in the 2019 election, Steven Omoyele Sowore, yesterday met with herdsmen and farmers in Taraba and Adamawa States.

Sowore, the convener, ‘Take It Back Movement,’ who was in the state to promote his presidential ambition and seek votes ahead of presidential polls slated for February 15, 2019, held two town hall meetings in Yola, Adamawa State, and Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, implored herdsmen and Farmers to eschew violence.

The renowned journalist-turned politician, who vowed to find lasting solution to the problem, said farmers and herders have lived harmoniously over decades without any skirmishes. He therefore advised them to identify the bad eggs amongst themselves and sanction them accordingly.

Sowore expressed displeasure over incessant fighting between herdsmen and farmers across the country, regretting that the ugly trend has degenerated to a point where even Nigerians who do not belong to any of the groups have been caught in the crossfire, including thousands that have been maimed and killed in the last few years.

The meeting between the herdsmen and farmers with the presidential aspirant climaxed in a town hall meeting held in Yola, Adamawa State and Jalingo, capital of Taraba State where the crowd in their thousands could not contain the joy of meeting with human and civil rights activist that was at the forefront of actualisation of June 12, 1993 polls that were won by Bashorun Abiola but annulled by the Ibrahim Babaginda led military junta.
