Wives of the 19 Northern states governors have counseled mothers on the inculcation of proper moral upbringing in their children.

In their Ed il fitri message made available to newsmen in Minna on Thursday, the governors’ wives said proper training of children “is one of the panacea to insecurity in the country.”

In the message signed by the Chairperson of the forum and wife of the Niger state governor, Dr. Amina Sani Bello, they said sound morale training in children “is one of the ways to make them responsible and better citizens.”

The forum declared that mothers, who are home keepers and character moulders, should also redouble their efforts in inculcating sound morals and discipline “in our future generations.”

They noted that with the high level of insecurity in the country, mothers need to instill in our children habits that will ensure they are vigilant in order to protect themselves, adding that the country is currently faced with the challenges of insecurity that has disrupted the lives of so many people, which only proper training of the children can surmount.

The forum congratulated Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Ed El Fitri festival but pleaded with the faithful to remember to always be their brothers’ keeper and pray for the peace and unity of Nigeria.

They also charged Muslim faithful to continue to put into practice, the lessons learnt during the holy month and pray for peace and the unity of the states and the country at all times.
Meanwhile The Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, had in a similar message called on Nigerians to live in peace with one another to foster peace and national unity.

Abubakar who made the call while addressing his people shortly after the two Raka’at prayers at the Bida Eid Ground on Thursday said “there is the need for Nigerians to ensure peaceful co-existence in the country so as to ensure economic growth and development.”

He noted that no society or country could achieve any meaningful development or greatness in an atmosphere of chaos and mistrust.

Abubakar, who congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan, reminded them that only tolerance and patriotism would help the country sail through the present situation.
