Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have ransacked a. Nasarawa village in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, killed six people and injured 10 others in fresh onslaught in the area.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, who confirmed the attack yesterday, said the rampaging terrorists invaded the village on Monday night.

Aliyu said that the ruffians stormed the village in large numbers with sophisticated weapons such as AK-47 rifles where they shot and killed six persons and left 10 others with varying degrees of gunshots.

He said: “On 19/2/2024, at about 23:30 hours, some suspected armed bandits in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles, attacked Nasarawa village, Faskari LGA.

“They shot and killed six persons, injured about 10 and set ablaze three houses and about 10 motor vehicles.”

He, however, said that the commissioner of police has deployed the command’s tactical operational intelligence to the scene “combing the surrounding bushes for the possible arrest of the perpetrators for diligent prosecution.”

But a resident of the reportedly ruined village, Ahmed Tanko, told THISDAY in a telephone interview that the terrorists set ablaze an aged man and massacred seven others in the area.

He said: “At Nasarawa village alone, six people were killed and 10 cars were set ablaze. The bandits also killed two people in our neighbouring Madogara community. One of the victims has just been buried this morning (Tuesday).”

He explained that the terrorists abducted scores of residents and looted staple grain stores and burnt beyond recognition unspecified numbers of motorcycles belonging to residents.

According to him, the hoodlums also attacked Ruwan Godiya village in the same local government and carried out their nefarious activities.
