T4 Education, HP Announce Third Africa Education Medal

T4 Education, in partnership with Hewlett-Packard, HP has announced the third edition of the Africa Education Medal, an initiative set up to celebrate education changemakers in Africa.

The Africa Education Medal is the continent’s foremost recognition in education. It aims to inspire positive outcomes by recognising players who have lit the spark of change and encouraging others to take up the torch.

Calling on qualified persons in Nigeria and Africa to apply, JA Africa CEO Simi Nwogugu said it is important that they share their positive stories via the platform to inspire others.

Nwogugu, who won the medal in 2023, stated, “Winning the Africa Education Medal 2023 was a tremendous honour that has drawn significant attention to the important work we do at JA Africa, equipping young Africans across the continent for employment and financial independence.”

HP’s Senior Education Business Leader, Mayank Dhingra, decried persisting learning gaps despite United Nations efforts, noting that COVID-19 had only exacerbated the situation.

“But there is hope if leaders from across the continent come together, with everyone sharing their expertise to help build a continent in which every child receives a quality education. HP has a bold goal to accelerate digital equity for 150 million people globally by 2030.”

Vikas Pota, founder and CEO of T4 Education, said a good education “is not only the key to unlocking the potential of Africa’s next generation, it’s a right,” adding that one of the most important things “we can do to improve education in Nigeria and around the world is to solve the teacher recruitment and retention crisis.”
