PDP Chieftain Scores Buhari’s Anti-graft War High

By Onyebuchi Ezigbo in Abuja

A former National Secretary of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Rex Onyeabor, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari’ should be given credit for reigniting the fight against corruption in the country.

Onyeabor, who is one of the founding fathers of the PDP, said the party  has a good chance of coming back if  the May 21 national convention goes well.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen at the weekend in Abuja, he said  notwithstanding party differences, he would always support anybody with determination to tame corruption, adding that  the insinuation that the fight against corruption by the Buhari-led government is selective does not hold water.
“If you remember, during the campaigns, President Buhari had three point agenda which are economy, security and anti corruption and he has been working on that. In anti corruption, he has been doing very well. There is the need to create an aura that people cannot get away with impunity or do anything they like,” he said.
Onyeabor said that he does not believe that the anti corruption crusade is merely targeted at PDP members only.
“So, those people who have been hit by this anti corruption campaign will say why only me. That is the attitude of human beings and I believe that in the fullness of time, the anti corruption crusade will spread and become all inclusive. I don’t believe that people are being targeted selectively. Statistically speaking, maybe more people are in PDP. But with time, I believe it will reach people in APC who are also corrupt,”
On the present bickering involving top members of the ruling party, Onyeabor cautioned that PDP  will catch up With APC if it fails to put its acts together quickly and open up to new ideas.
