A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP), Shehu Gabam, has explained why the recommendations of the party’s National Disciplinary Committee for his expulsion would not stand, saying that nobody could build falsehood on truth.
Gabam, who stated this during an interview with select newsmen shortly after a consultative meeting with major PDP stakeholders in Bauchi, lamented that the crisis rocking the party was as a result of lack of internal democracy and derailing from the vision of the founding fathers of PDP.
He said that the party stood the risk of losing relevance and fizzling away in the political scene unless it was ready to put its house in order and correct the injustice perpetrated by some of it leaders.
“As a national stakeholder of the party, certain injustices have been melted on the party lately and given birth to this crisis. The National Executive Committee, NEC in the last four months has made it position clear on the zoning of leadership in the party.
“It was agreed that presidency of the party should be zoned to the north while that of the chairmanship should go to the south, but this principle of zoning has not been adhered to and certain individuals are trying to impose their interest in the party. This is the major differences between some of us and those trying to impose themselves into the management of the party.
“We are aware that the ward congresses of the party which was supposed to take place in the state was postponed. This shows that there is a major crisis in the party. The party may be lucky to survive this crisis or may not,” he said
