Unpaid Salaries: Ekiti Workers Abandon Offices, Close Early
Olakiitan Victor in Ado Ekiti
As Ekiti State government has not paid the salaries of workers in the last five months, it has now been observed that many workers don’t go to work while those who do now close by 1 pm instead of the 4.00pm official time .
In most cases, some of them found it very difficult to come to office due to paucity of funds, while the few that struggle to show up used to abandon their offices by between 12.00noon and 1.00pm.
Mostly affected were the workers operating at the old governor’s office located at Oke Ori Omi along Irona quarters in Ado Ekiti and the State secretariat along bank road in the state capital.
Those operating at the new governor’s office, where Governor Ayodele Fayose and his Deputy, Dr Kolapo Olusola’s offices were situated normally closed by 3pm, because of the fear of being sacked if they are caught in the act.
