Giwa Codemns Committee’s Decision on NFF
The presumptive chairman of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Ambassador Chris Giwa has condemned the decision to recognise the Amaju Pinnick led faction, by the chairman of the House committee on Sports Hon Bukar Lawan without the consent of the entire Assembly.
In a press briefing yesterday, Giwa noted that the Committee’s chairman had openly taken sides with his opponent through his conduct and utterances which were at variance with the position of the whole body, before the volte face that subsequently led to his after-thought invitation to face the committee.
To further buttress his position, the Chairman said that appropriate steps would be taken to drag the committee chairman before the Leadership of the House of Representatives for conduct which is at variance with his oath of office to be fair and just to all.
Giwa further stated that Lawan erred by his action without first laying the committees report on the Floor of the Green chambers, thereafter the report would be deliberated upon before a final position was taken on the issue since it was the House who ordered the committee to look into the matter.
He said that all the documents and legal pronouncements were all laid bare before the body, which invariably runs contrary to the claims being made by the chairman of the House committee to justify his hurriedly taken position. While urging Nigerians to discountenance the position taken by the committee as not representing the facts.
Meanwhile, an application for Issuance of criminal summons against Amaju Pinnick and Demola Olajire pursuant to section 143 of the criminal procedure code has been made.
Amaju had through his media aide Demola Olajire caused a statement to be issued last week that the Writ of Execution issued by the Federal High Court in Jos last week that the Order was fake without recourse to the appropriate authority.
