Cattle Rustlers Kill Three in Adamawa
At least three persons wereon Tuesday believed to have been killed and several others injured by cattle rustlers in Tambo- Gimo village of Girei Local Government Area in AdamawaState. While confirming the attack, the village head of Tambo, Mallam Idi Wakili Sama, said the cattle rustlers stormed the village at about 11p.m.
while villagers were about going to bed. He said as soon as the rustlers entered the village, they started shooting into the air to scare the villagers aways so as to enable them carry out their operations. Sama said three persons were killed and several others were also injured as a result of trying to escape from the rustlers whom he claimed came with sophisticated weapons. He said because of the kind of sound of the guns of the rustlers, no villagers could come close, adding that they finished their operations and left without any challenge.
Sama said the rustlers carted away cattle belonging to some villagers in Tambo- Gimo and broke into shops and stole goods worth millions of naira. Another eyewitnesses, Chris Jallo, said the rustlers stormed the village with the sole aimed of stealing cattle but were surprised when the rustlers broke into some shops and carted away goods and money. He said the dead bodies of the three persons killed by the rustlers had been deposited at the mortuary at the Specialist Hospital Yola. Also confirming the incident, the police spokesman in the state, Abubakar Othman, said three persons were killed in Tambo-Gimo by cattle rustlers while they were trying to steal cattle belonging to some villagers.
