Lagos Task Force Arrests Fake Army Officer
The Lagos State Task Force yesterday arrested one Oluwayelu Adeboye, in the Ogba area of the state for impersonating as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Nigerian Army. The serial impersonator was said to have been arrested after he attempted to secure the release of a vehicle impounded by the taskforce, after which he would have been paid N15,000 by the owner of the vehicle.
Adeboye said he was on his way to Ogba in Ikeja to collect his original Year 2010 West African Examination School Certificate results with examination No 20108040DC when he saw operatives of the agency impounding someone’s vehicle for traffic obstructions. The 27-year-old, who revealed that he was rusticated from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro in 2014 for the same offence of impersonation, said he had in the past successfully deceived different security personnel across the country. He also confessed to have once impersonated the son of a general in the Nigerian Army during an interview when he wanted to secure admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
He also admitted that he had been impersonating as an officer of either the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Police Force in order to secure the release of anyone arrested at different police stations across Lagos. Adeboye also said he equally impersonates through telephone conversations for release of impounded vehicles from different law enforcement agencies for a fee of N15,000 or more.
