Nasarawa United Head Coach, Kabir Dogo has called Sunshine Stars lucky in the top-flight thumbing in Makurdi on Saturday.
The Solid Miners benched the Owena Waves 3-0 in Saturday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match-day 27 clash at their adopted ground, Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi.
The three-goal feast was made possible by the trio, Abdulrahman Bashir, Bature Yaro and Zinke Thomas.
Dogo said the massive win is a perfect payback to the Akure-based side who won the first fixture clash with same number of goals in Akure.
“Sunshine Stars were damn lucky to have gone down with just three unreplied goals, we were on top of our game and could have won with as many as five goals or more.
“However, that’s not to say that Sunshine Stars were cheap, no, they are good side but on matchday the better side emerged victorious.
“The win is a perfect payback to Sunshine Stars who stunned us with three unreplied goals in the first fixture clash in Akure.
“I think we are getting the rhythm perfectly well especially in the second half of the season as we had goal scoring problem in the first stanza.
“Of course, today’s (Saturday) massive win will not be one off win but we will continue to fight for a respectable finish on the log.
“I believe we are on course to challenge for the laurel as well as tickets to Africa as far as the on-going top-flight is concerned.
“Right now no team is being crowned champions or awarded any of the continental tickets so we must continue to push to be counted,” said the former Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC coach to supersport.com.
The win against Sunshine Stars has taken the Lafia-based side total earnings to 36 points 10 behind league leaders, Enugu Rangers.
