Kano Disco Recruits over 1,000 for Enhanced Service Delivery

Kano Electricity Distribution Plc (KEDCO) has recruited 1,000 new workers, who are to be posted to its regional offices in the franchise areas of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states to boost the firm’s performance.
A statement issued by the company’s spokesperson, Mohammed Kandi and made available to THISDAY on Sunday, said the recruitment exercise followed the approval by KEDCO’s Board of Directors authorising the company to increase its staff strength.
It said: “The effort is geared towards assisting the company with more hands to enable it tackle its myriad of challenges accurately, as well as, supporting Nigeria in its struggle bridge the huge unemployment gaps.”
The statement also quoted KEDCO’s Ag. Chief Corporate Services Officer, Mallam Balarebe Bello, as saying “we have just commenced distribution of offer letters to the new staff, hoping that, successful candidates will begin the documentation processes immediately and subsequently assume duty in the first week of August.
Bello, who disclosed that the recruitment exercise was aimed at building company’s capacity in providing its teeming customer population an excellent, timely and efficient services, however recalled that, the staff strength had increased from 1, 064 to 2, 064.
He averred that the company currently being transformed and would no longer tolerate indolence, fraudulent acts or cruelty towards its customers.
According to the Ag CCSO, “the company is currently undertaking series of transformation part of which encourages customer intimacy; all KEDCO customers irrespective of their status are our kings, we are in business because of them and we will not condone any unruly behaviours towards them by any staff.”
“Our reforms will include repositioning the company’s structures, organograms, policies, procedures and strategic plans, for which the in-coming staff must be ready to align themselves with in their every given tasks,” he stressed.
He said: “Out Company’s mission statement and the vision are paramount. Our vision is innovative, it clearly detaches us from what was formally obtainable and the new employees, as the old ones, are expected to embrace it while carrying out their daily responsibilities for the company.”
