Mary Ekah
In its usual tradition to stir up innate potentials in youths, Breach Repairers is once again holding its annual event tagged, ‘BR Connect’, an occasion which aims to raise a generation of Nigerian youths that are purpose-driven, socially responsible with integrity and resolve to bring about desired leadership change in their spheres of influence.
The programme began in 2009 with 167 youths and about 13 adults at Hermitage Resort in Ibeju-Lekki and was then a Bible class meeting plus some talent hunt competition with beach soccer at intervals. But today, the event has grown over the years with other inclusions like debate, dance drama, skill acquisition aspects involving professional bodies but not changing it central message – ‘Purity, Purpose And Productivity Always Begets Royalty’. This is in the hope to position participants to explore and discover their innate potentials and prompt them deep enough to desire to assert these positive influences among their circle of friends.
According to the Chief Executive Officer, Breach Repairers, Mr. Nduka Chuks, this year’s edition which begins on Monday, August 8, 206 in Lagos, will include teachings from experienced facilitators such as Dr. Isaac Fayomi (Lecturer, Covenant University/CEO IGNITE and DISCOVERY), Dr. Mrs. Delight Olise(Proprietress, Covenant Child Academy), Victor Diali (CEO – MOTIVO Centre for Leadership), Laja Shoniran (CEO, Financial Literacy for All), Ada Obaje (CEO Lenpriss International, School of Etiquette, Lekki), Gerald Chukwuma (CEO GAZIBA Group), Jodee Dance Group, Nwando’s Signature, Professional Web Designers from Swift Networks and others. We have also made room for games and excursion (including media exposure).
This year’s event being the seventh edition, Chuks revealed will feature debate and essay writing competitions and a dance drama competition as well. “The debate competition is named after our mentor, Dr. D.K. Olukoya (G.O. of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, MFM) and the dance competition after our father in the Lord, Pastor, Wale Adefarasin, General Overseer of Guiding Light Assembly, (GLA), Ikoyi. Both have championed the course of this organisation with huge supports (spiritually and financially) since inception to the glory of God. Both fathers have contributed greatly to youth developments issues and are worthy leaders to be followed,” he noted.
Speaking further Ckuks said, “The common challenge with young people is always ‘Peer Group Influences’ that introduces vices but we seek to mold character patterns that will make them become ‘The Pressure’ championing opinions and giving orientation towards positive values that will stir up a generation of leaders that will champion our dream of a better and greater Nigeria. We equip them and push them out as enforcers of the new Nigeria of our dreams.”
This year’s edition of the campaign supported by Covenant Child Academy, Etisalat, Beloxxi Biscuits, Yomi Casual, May and Baker (Mimee Noodles), Swift Networks, Nwando’s Signature, Olams, SIAO, Guiding Light Assembly, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) and others, Chuks said have been extended to parents, the clergy, teachers, school owners and other concerned adults with our organization of Parenting Conferences.
