Troops Kills Notorious Bandits, Rustlers

The troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army on operations aimed at dealing with the menace of livestock rustling, armed banditry and other forms of criminality have killed an armed bandit, arrested some, cleared camps and recovered livestock in Kaduna and Zamfara States.
The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Usman, in a statement in Monday, said that the troops on Sunday arrested a notorious cattle rustler named Isah Fulani at Mararrabar Jos, Igabi Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State.
Similarly, he said, the troops have also killed the leader of a livestock rustling and armed banditry gang called Guruguru Magaji at Tashar Nakau, Ikara LGA, in a fierce exchange of gunfire.
He stated that the troops recovered a Revolver Pistol and six locally fabricated 9mm rounds of ammunition from him.
He said: “The troops at Anchau, Kubau LGA, Kaduna State also arrested two impersonators that parade themselves as members of a non-existent vigilante group harassing and extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public in the area.
“The suspects, Mallam Hamza Hare and Mallam Sani Abdul-Aziz, also posed as liaison officers to security officers duping people.”
Usman said that the troops have also arrested a notorious armed bandit that terrorised the public, especially along the road that links Kaduna and Katsina States through Birnin Gwari-Funtua.
According to him, the armed bandit, named Mohammed, is also popularly known as “Abedariwa” and was arrested in Birnin Gwari town, Kaduna State.
He stated that apart from confessing and giving graphic details of his deadly acts, he promised to cooperate fully with the military to fish out other criminal elements in the society.
The DAPR said: “The troops in Zamfara State axis are also doing very well.
“The troops have raided, cleared two armed bandits camp and recovered 209 cows, 1062 goats and sheep at Dumburum forest general area, Zurmi Local Government Area, Zamfara State” on Sunday.”
