First Female Rotary President Affirms Commitment to Pro-Poor Services
Ladened with the burden to alleviate the sufferings of the less privileged people in the society, the first female president, Rotary Club Ikeja, District 9110, Rotarian Olaitan Ojuroye has hinted that issues like material/child care, water/sanitation and education will be receiving a lot of her attention during her tenure.
Ojuroye said this during her investiture as the 50th President and the first female president of the club as well as the induction of the Board of Directors for the 2016/2017 Rotary year.
The new president in her inaugural speech, pledged to bring about remarkable paradigm shifts in the Ikeja District during her tenure.
Journey, who said that her administration will focus on pro-poor, pro-people projects called for generous support from other Rotarians.
According to her, “Rotary is an association of professionals from different fields of endeavour who are united to serve humanity and provide assistance to the less privileged in the society. In my administration, breast cancer awareness and special hand washing campaign will top my agenda.
“I call on all Rotarians to donate generously towards the execution of these life-saving projects. Please do feel free to monitor and audit these projects as we execute them,” she said.
