By Benjamin Nworie
Ebonyi state police command has handed over six children rescued from child traffickers to their families in Abakaliki, the state capital.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Peace
Ibekwe Abdallah, while parading the suspects, explained that the children were rescued at different locations, including a motherless baby home, World Peace Motherless
Home, at Nkpor Uno, Anambra state.
She noted that two children, Blessing Onwe and Ifeoma Onwe, rescued at
World Peace Motherless Home were stolen on 7 July 2016 at Ezzamgbo
in Ohaukwu LGA in Ebonyi state.
The CP also said that the Command recovered a child, one Kingsley Nwafor, at Umuawulu Awka South in Anambra State, who was stolen from the mother, Ndidiamaka.
She said that a two-year-old, Nwafor Kingsley, who was stolen from his mother, Ndidamaka Nwafor in March this year at Ezza Akpuoga Enugu state was among those rescued.
The Police boss added that through the effort of the Command, Kingsley was recovered at Umuawulu Awka South Anambra state where he was sold by a suspect, Chizoba Nicholas and syndicate to one Okpalaugo Chinwendu, a top civil servant in a Ministry of Women Affairs in Anambra state at the cost of N750,000.
Chinwendu was alleged to have received the amount and handed over Kingsley to one Okpala Benedicta (F) who applied to the ministry for adoption.
She further explained that in August this year one Chinonso Aja who was still at large conspired with and stole the child of her younger sister, Chika Aja, while she was asleep but the Command launched a serious manhunt and later recovered the baby, Chidalu Aja at Power Line, Aba, Abia state.
According to the CP: “On 21/6/2016, one Raphael Kamwe, Uju Uzoma ‘f’, Chizoba Nicholas ‘f’ and others conspired and deceived Esther Agbowo and her parents at Nkalagu Ishielu in Ebonyi state that Raphael wanted to marry her. They took her and her two children to Asaba, Delta state, where they took the children away from her and abandoned her”.
