India to Support Sokoto’s Proposed Renal and Cardiac Hospital
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s bid to establish a renal and cardiac hospital received in Sokoto received a major boost wednesday when the Indian government said it would play an active role in ensuring the success of the project.
Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, B.N Reddy, stated this when he visited Governor Tambuwal in Abuja.
“We seek to expand our cooperation with Nigeria in the medical and other sectors and this is an opportunity for us to take active part,” the envoy said, according to a statement issued by Tambuwal’s spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, in Sokoto.
He added that the relationship between his country and Nigeria has been cordial, and both countries are working to enhance it.
In his remarks, Tambuwal said the cardiac and renal centre would be the best in the country and will serve patients from Nigeria and other West African countries.
“It will be a centre of excellence and having it on ground in Sokoto will enhance medical tourism and help Nigeria conserve much needed foreign currencies which many of our country men and women expend to seek treatments abroad,” the Governor said.
The two leaders also pledge to boost trade and commerce, mining, agriculture and educational ties between their citizens.
