Ayo Fayose’s Romantic Side
If, for instance, you ask a group of people in and outside Ekiti State to describe the person of the state Governor, Ayo Fayose, there is the possibility that the pendulum will swing more to the side of those who will describe him as ‘Mr. Controversy’.
However, whether this impression about him is absolutely correct or not is left for posterity to judge. But what is not in doubt is that his adventure in the Nigerian politics has been dogged by melodrama.
Yet, those who are close to him are always quick to say that behind this veneer of seemingly exaggerated toughness and attention-seeking posturing is a soft-man. Besides, his supporters and allies claim that he is also a great romantic.
As if to lend credence to this claim, Fayose, once again, celebrated his wife, last Sunday, when she turned 53. With a deep sense of appreciation and love, Fayose was quoted to have described his wife as the solid rock behind his success story, adding that‘‘ she has distinguished herself as a role model and person who believes in modesty and is totally reserved. Her prayer life has made a difference and has impacted positively on me. Any woman who marries a man like me, who is generally seen to be fearless and courageous and who is vulnerable to attacks by political opponents, cannot afford not to have a woman with her sterling qualities as wife. Only a virtuous, Godly and resolute woman like her has what it takes to stand firm in the face of attacks.
‘‘I appreciate her as she adds another year and also appreciate her care for our children. God has brought her to this kingdom at this auspicious time when many supposed men of honour have disappeared into the thin air. I want to assure her that her labour of love will not be in vain. She is a woman to emulate for her modesty as well as her inspiring and fervent prayer life. Only her can be an ideal wife for a man like me.”
