The President of Nigeria Foundation in Michigan, United States of America (USA), Chief Nwunne Titus Amadi has called on the leadership of the country to emulate other countries by allowing Nigerians who live abroad to vote during elections, saying that such practice would make diasporans to be part of the political process of their country.
He stated that it became necessary for Nigerians living abroad to be carried along so that they would be part of the development process going on in the country.
Titus Amadi who is also the US Regional leader of the Mid-Western States of All Progressives Congress (APC) stated this in Owerri, Imo state capital, during a press briefing yesterday and noted that Nigerians living abroad should be part of the political process by allowing them to exercise their franchise during elections.
He disclosed that he was in Imo state on a fact finding mission to know the areas which the diasporans of Imo state extraction could assist in the development of the state.
“I am from Imo state and I am here on a fact finding mission to know in which area that we in the US could assist in the development of the state. So what we want is just a level playing field by being allowed to participate in the political process by allowing those abroad to
vote in elections.
He added most diasporans are willing to contribute to the development of the country because most of those abroad already have the money and expertise but need assurance from the state.
Meanwhile, he has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for effort being made to reposition the country, saying that all hands must be on deck to get the country out of her present difficulties as criticism would not solve the problem.
He equally thanked the state chairman of Party, Dr.Hilary Eke for granting them the permission to organise the party in US.
