Okowa Assures Security Agencies of Administration’s Continual Partnership

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has said his administration will continue to partner with security agencies for Delta State to remain safe for socio-economic activities to thrive.

The governor gave the assurance yesterday in Asaba when the Assistant Commandant-General, Zone G of the Nigeria Society and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Bassey Onoyom Bassey, led officials of the security agency to pay him a courtesy visit.

According to the governor, “as a government, we have always rendered assistance to security operatives to enable them carry out their functions; we will continue to work together and it is our hope that working with all the security agencies, we will be able to secure our state.”

Okowa commended security agencies for the roles they are playing for a secured society to be achieved, noting that the NSCDC in particular has distinguished itself in the protection of oil facilities.

While expressing hope that the peace which has seen to a lull in the destruction of oil installations in the Niger Delta region would be sustained, the governor, reiterated that such would amount to having more funds for developmental projects.

He said: “We thank God that peace is returning to our state and our nation and by the grace of God, we will find ways to assist you; we are very hopeful that we will have a better year, 2017 which will translate to improved revenue to our nation and our state for developmental projects.”

Earlier, Bassey had thanked the governor for his numerous assistance to security agencies and appealed for more logistics to enable them carry out their functions.
