Gunmen on Rampage in Plateau, Kill Police Officer, Seize Rifles

Armed bandits on Sunday night allegedly attacked a divisional Police station at Dengi, the headquarters of Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing a police officer and carting away seven rifles.
Confirming the incident, the Transition Committee Chairman of the council, Mr. Hashimu Isah, told journalists that “I am now on my way to Dengi now to know exactly what happened. Once I’m properly briefed, I’ll get back to you with details.”
Details of the incident were still sketchy at the time of the report. THISDAY however gathered that the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adekunle Oladunjoye had gone to Dengi to assess the situation.
Similarly, a resident of Legislative Quarters, at Eto-baba in Jos North Local Government Area of the state, Mr. Dadu Solomon said they’ve not known sleep in the past weeks as the area has been under siege by suspected armed robbery gang that molest, beat, and snatch belongings from their victims.
Solomon said a resident of the area was last week Wednesday shot dead by the gang.
He called on the police to come to their rescue by beefing up security in the area.
