Music lovers and fans of Isioma Wiz Ofuasia popularly known as ‘WizBoyy’ could possibly have been wondering about his whereabouts following his sudden disappearance from the Nigerian music scene.
Well, the Delta State-born musician recently emerged as the star guest, alongside SoundCity’s TV presenter Moet Abebe (real name Laura Monyeazo Abebe), at the first edition for 2017 ‘Meets Media’, a monthly meeting and networking event for personalities in the media industry.
At the January 29th event, WizBoyy, during the fire-chat session with Moet, talked about his music career which professionally started in 2005 immediately after graduation from the University of Nigeria Nsuka, then as a music producer. With his partner Slim Brown, they brought in DJ Ree, Zoro and J’dess (a female artiste), under the name No-Tyme Records.
He made hits like “Screen Saver”, which he said gave him his major breakthrough. It was followed by “Owusaghi”, and later, the remix with 9ice. The song earned him a nomination at the Headies Awards for the Best Street Hop. These songs paved way for his “Infinity” album which remains a reference point in his music career.
His latest work, his “Change Over” album, was the mainstay of the monthly interactive session. WizBoyy describes it as the next level in his musical journey and a whole new direction for the WizBoyy brand. His unique style of music, which he dubs as “Wizolingo style”, is a blend of urban highlife and afro pop.
Moet on her part was celebrated as the Media Personality of the month for her sterling rise in entertainment broadcasting. She was presented with an award for the personality of the month. The event also had Ocha singer, Myro and Issi, a budding afro-pop singer open up on their works and creative talents.
The January edition which held at the Best Western Hotel, Victoria Island, brought the on air personality and red carpet host Moet Abebe on the spotlight as she spoke about her foray into the media and entertainment world, her achievement and most interestingly answered questions relating to her private life.
The United Kingdom law graduate said: “I needed something very exciting”, hence the career switch. The successful Video Jockey (VJ) and radio voice just a while back, ventured into acting.
And when poked at her marital status, the “One on One” show host quipped ‘Wow! There’s no reason to why am not married. I am just not married. I will when the right time comes, and with the right man.’
