Kano Women Protest Abductions
Worried about the incessant abduction of their under aged children, hundreds of women in Kano staged a peaceful protest to Kano government house. They carried placards with various inscriptions, the women mostly old and young marched to the Kano government House where a letter of protest was submitted at the gate of the government house for onward delivery to the governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. The Leader of the protesting women, Malama Lami Abubakar alleged that at Kawo quarters of Alhaji Sani area in Tarauni local government area of the in the metropolitan city of Kano.
The women alleged that there was a woman who always covers her face with veil alleged to be abducting their children but the ward head was always shielding her from arrest for subsequent prosecution. Malama Lami who cannot control her tears, alleged that specifically in the last three days, and that two of their children were found in captivity from one of the resident whom they alleged to have been abducting their children. She also displayed some of the boys who were abducted by the alleged woman leaving in their quarters.
“We have made several attempts to arrest her by the police but our ward head always shielding her by saying the woman is lunatic. We want urgent intervention from the state Governor and all well-meaning individuals to come to our aid and fish out this those behind abduction of our children “. Receiving their letter of protest, a senior police officer attached to the government house expressed sympathy to them over the incident and promised to deliver their letter to the governor. The protesting women and their children also matched to the Emir of Kano Palace and lodged the same complain
