Labour Unions Warn as Ondo Accountant General Abandons Office

Labour unions in Ondo State monday warned the state Accountant General, Mr. Laolu Akindolire, to immediately stop further release of funds to the outgoing administration of Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
The warning of the labour unions was contained in a letter addressed to the AG and jointly signed by the Chairmen of the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), Sunday Adeleye, Bosede Daramola of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Soladoye Ekundayo of the Trade Union Congress  (TUC).
The labour leaders alleged that they were aware of a ground plot to mop up all funds in the state government’s accounts to finance frivolous projects by the outgoing administration.
The unions therefore advised  Akindolire not to abuse his office in approving money other than payment of over seven months workers salaries.
Meanwhile, THISDAY learnt that even before the letter of the labour leaders, the Accountant General had absconded from his office located adjacent to the Government House,  Alagbaka.
It was gathered that the AG abandoned his office to avoid several financial requests from the outgoing administration.
Sequel the action of the AG,  about N150 million requested by the outgoing administration to organise the inauguration ceremony is still trapped in his office.
It was learnt that all calls made to the mobile numbers of the absconded AG could not connect.
