Untold story of Sen. Iyiola Omisore
To most people, Senator Iyiola Omisore, a former deputy governor of Osun State, is regarded only as a politician. It will, however, be preposterous to assume that he has no other life.
What many do not know about this Ife, Osun State- born Prince is that, before he ventured into politics, he had been a successful businessman, whose story will inspire anyone planning to go into business.
In other words, his wealth of experience as a businessman and owner of a corporate body, where he has had to manage both human and material resources, is the secret of his leadership quality as a politician of repute.
Right from his early life, he had demonstrated very rare qualities, which not only set him apart from his peers but prepared him for community leadership and services.
Not many are aware that the well- loved man holds a Ph.D in Infrastructure Finance from the International School of Management, Paris, France.
He started his early professional life with the firm of Drake and Gordham in the United Kingdom in the early 1980s. He received on-the-job training and rose to top management positions. The same firm Drake and Scull (Nig. ) Limited took him back home to Nigeria, where he worked on major engineering projects. It was while working at Drake and Scull that his project management skills were honed. He later established his own engineering firms, Mechelec Consultants, an engineering consultancy outfit and Chrisore Eng Limited, an electrical engineering firm.
Omisore was involved in many consultancy projects such as execution of several World Bank- assisted projects and ADB/ADF, assisted projects in virtually every part of Nigeria. Chisore Engineering Limited was also involved in the execution of many projects for blue-chip companies, banks and embassies, shipping companies, etc.
In fact, he was in the process of taking Chisore Engineering to be listed on the stock Exchange when the need to serve his people took the front burner in his agenda.
Omisore is an embodiment of intelligence. His patriotic zeal and engineering acumen came to play tremendously when he was in the Senate between 2003 and 2011.
The man with deep pocket detests poverty with passion and would never allow it in the life of his people. His philanthropic gesture is legendary, though he doesn’t brag about it
It was gathered that thousands of students are under his scholarship scheme while many widows and orphans are under his monthly payroll.
Omisore is the grandson of late Olufewara, Kabiyesi Oba Titus Adetoba of the Oseganderuku ruling house in Ifewara, where his mother, Princess Emila Ademola, ruled as a regent until her death in 2006.
