Abducted Germans Regain Freedom

The German archaeologist, Prof. Peter Breunij, and his associate, Johannes Buringer, who were abducted by gunmen in Jenjela village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been freed.
Police sources in Kaduna revealed that the Germans were released by their abductors in Kateri village, along the Kaduna-Abuja road on Saturday evening following an intense manhunt of the abductors by the police.
The sources said Breunij and Buringer were taken to the German embassy in Abuja after their release.
Their abductors had demanded N60 million as ransom, but the police sources did not say whether the ransom was paid.
The sources did not also say whether any arrest was made in connection with the incident.
The Germans who were said to be working in collaboration with the National Commission for Museum and Monuments on the relics of Nok Culture in Nigeria were abducted at a site in Jenjela village.
Two of the Nigerians working with them at the site and who had attempted to rescue them during the incident, were killed by the gunmen
