Assemblies of God Crisis: Church Council Faults Ex-leader over S'Court Verdict

By Christopher Isiguzo in Enugu
The 19-member Executive Committee of the Assemblies of God, Nigeria (AGN) led by the General Superintendent, Rev. Chidi Okoroafor, on Tuesday in Enugu dismissed as false, deceitful and mischievous claims by a former leader of the church, Paul Emeka, that he remained the church’s General Superintendent despite last Friday’s judgment of the Supreme Court which endorsed his March 6, 2014 dismissal from the church.
Briefing newsmen shortly after their maiden meeting since the Supreme Court judgment at the AGN Evangel Camp along Enugu-Abakaliki road, Okoroafor who spoke on their behalf said the judgment formally ended the crisis which had engulfed the church since 2014, noting that there was no longer any form of factionalisation in the church.
The committee, which includes Rev. Ejikeme Ejim (Assistant General Superintendent), Godwin Amaowoh (General Secretary) and Vincent Alaje (General Treasurer) as well as other zonal leaders, said there is only one Assemblies of God Nigeria and one elected executive committee.
They further called on the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), the federal, state and local governments as well as all banks to be properly informed of the present situation and desist from further dealing with another group.
