NACJ to Hold Integrity Award May 27
The Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ) has announced that the 5th Anniversary of its Annual Lecture and Integrity Award will hold on Saturday, May 27, at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos.
The association which has been at the background over a decade broke into limelight in 2013, with the Annual Integrity Award.
A statement signed by the Secretary General of the association, Charles Okhai, said: “Having been impelled to contribute our quota as a group to the developmental progress of the nation, we came up with the integrity award to address the issue of corruption and bad leadership, which had been the major clog in the wheel of the nation’s advancement.
“The idea is to encourage Nigerians to imbibe the spirit and virtues of integrity, because integrity is the direct opposite of corruption, and we believe that when the people become conscious of the virtues of Integrity, better still, when the people are mentally integrity-configured, then corruption will have no place in their life.
“This underscores the reason we celebrate, annually, a few of our illustrations sons and daughters who have no doubt distinguished themselves, having consistently lived within the frames of integrity. “Although, we are well aware that our recipients are imperfect people but that they have demonstrated certain degree of integrity in their lives, their career, especially in their leadership positions. They deserve to be encouraged, hence, the prestigious Annual Integrity Award.”
Some of the past recipients of the NACJ awards include the immediate past Inspector General of Police, Dr Solomon Arase; Dr Oviemo Ovadje, an Army General; Social Activist, Dr Yinka Odumakin; Prince Bisi Olatilo; Mr Femi Adesina, the current Media Adviser to President Buhari; AIG Ogunsakin; Dr TOE Ekechi; Bisi Deji, Editor, Saturday Punch, to mention just a few.
Okhai added: “This year, we are extending the categories of the awards in order to make the event one of the biggest media events of the decade. A few of the prospective awardees this year include Professor Pat Utomi; Hon Abike Dabiri; Actress Bimbo Akintola; Group Managing Director, Daar Communications, Mr Tony Akiotu; Mr John Momoh; Chief Dele Momodu; Mr Jimi Agbaje the popular Gubernatorial Candidate of Lagos State in the 2015 election; Bishop Mike Okonkwo, who will preside over the event as the Chairman, and a few others.”
