Wife of Kogi State Governor, Mrs Rashida Bello has received an award of excellence at the 2017 International Women Conference, which took place in Dallas, Texas in the United States of America.

A statement made available by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mrs Olamide Adesoro yesterday, said the award was in recognition of her contributions to the society through her “numerous empowerment programmes which have impacted on the lives of the people of Kogi State”.

The statement added that the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Bolanle Amupitan, who received the award on behalf of Mrs Bello, urged women who are economically capable in Nigeria and Africa to endeavour to lift up other women around them through empowerment initiatives.

It also quoted her as saying that Mrs Bello would not relent in her commitment to ensuring that her pet project, “Kogi Women and Youth Advancement Foundation (KOWYAF) waxes stronger in reaching out to the people, especially those at the grassroots in order to enjoy dividends of democracy”.

The statement added that KOWYAF by its mission, will support the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello to make “remarkable difference” through provision of quality healthcare and empowerment for women and youth.
