PayPorte Dumps Payment on Delivery Option

Apparently for security reasons, online store, Payporte, has adjusted its business model as it announced suspension of payment on delivery, POD, option.

The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Eyo Bassey, who made this announcement said that the organisation would henceforth identify with online secure payments and bank transfers.

Bassey noted that the change in operation was to further serve customers better and to reposition the business for profitability in addition to conforming with the Central Bank’s Cashless policy.

He however said that for old customers who had patronised the firm for up to five times or more, the old payment style would be open to them from  Monday, April 10th.

“We have suspended the Payment On Delivery option on our website with effect from today, April 3, 2017. Our decision was necessitated by the increasing risk and security challenges posed by this payment option. Also, to reduce the amount of cash carried from one location to another by our delivery staff.

“We encourage our customers to make use of our other secured electronic payment options such as online payment or bank transfer for payments.

We believe this will also play an active role in the growth of e-commerce business in Nigeria, as well as give a new dimension to the business”, Bassey explained.

Head of Operations, PayPorte, Boma Igah added that “In line with the suspension, refunds for unsatisfied customers would be processed within a maximum of 48 hours while only customers who have shopped on PayPorte for five times or more will be able access the POD option from the 10th Aprilpending its total discontinuation.

“Customers that had already placed orders using the POD orders before March 3,, 2017, would be allowed to pay using that option but for future orders, customers would be required to make payments using our various secured payment options”.
