Customs Promotes 3,487 Senior Officers
*Ends dichotomy between HND, degree holders

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service
(NCS), Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (rtd), has released the promotion of 3,487 senior officers to various ranks in tandem with presidential approval.
The NCS, in a statement said the promotion was strictly based on merit, considering the cumulative scores from examination, oral interview and seniority.
A breakdown of the promotion showed that 17 officers moved from
Deputy Comptrollers (DC) to Chief Comptrollers (CCs), 27 from Assistant Comptrollers (ACs) to Deputy Comptrollers (DCs) while 156 were elevated to from Chief Comptrollers of Customs (CSC) to Assistant Comptrollers (ACs).
Similarly, 62 moved from Superintendent of Customs (SC) to Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC), while 86 rose from DSC-SC and 144 from ASC1 to DSC
Others are ASC II to ASCDC-CC (17); AC to DC (27), and CSC to AC (156), SC to CSC (62), among others.
The statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of NCS, Mr. Joseph Attah, said some of the newly promoted officers to the exalted rank of Comptroller included Musa MBA, Wale Adeniyi, Angbalaga J.J, Seriki-Kebbi, MM, while the Public Relations Officers, Joseph Attah and his deputy Abubakar Dalhatu were promoted to Deputy Comptroller and Chief Superintendent respectively.
Ali, at a symbolic decoration of the officers at the customs headquarters, Abuja, charged the officers to see their promotion as a call to higher duty.
The customs Comptrollers General has also approved the removal of dichotomy between holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) and from Bachelor’s degree, in the service.
This was part of the ongoing reforms in line with circular Ref: HCSF/EPO/EIR/CND/100/ST/98 issued on September 8, 2016 from the Head of Service of the Federation and the approval of government since April 1992 for NCS to align with the Nigeria Police Force rank structure.
Ali has therefore, directed the immediate alignment of rank structure of the service with that of the Nigeria Police.
Consequently, officers in the Inspectorate cadre on Salary Grade level 08 and above are to align with the appropriate rank in the superintendent cadre.
