The Kano State House of Assembly on Monday suspended the probe of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sunusi II.
The suspension of the probe followed the intervention of prominent Nigerians who appealed to the Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to let go of the matter in the interest of peace in the state.
Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, told the House on Monday that Governor Ganduje had written to the lawmakers seeking a suspension of the probe.
Rurum said the governor’s letter listed some prominent Nigerians who had appealed to him to stop the probe.
The list, according to the speaker, includes the acting President Yemi Osinbajo, former heads of state Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar III, Aliko Dangote, and Aminu Dantata, among others.
