IPOB Faults Obasanjo over Anti-Biafra Comment
By David-Chyddy Eleke in Awka
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has faulted the call by former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the group to jettison its secessionist struggle and fight for the ‘national cake’.
IPOB in a press statement signed by its media and publicity secretary, Mr Emma Powerful, said it was not interested in the so called ‘national cake’, and wondered why elders in the mold of Obasanjo could not tell the truth about the injustices faced by Ndigbo.
Part of IPOB’s statement read: “We find it shameful and shocking when we heard such statement from a highly respected leader like Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who would have been in a position to tell Nigerians the common truth about the resolve of IPOB and it’s leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to restore Biafra.
“The plots by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and his cohorts to stop us or silence the efforts by IPOB members to restore Biafra will never work, we promise them because Biafra is on the lips of everybody now. The move by Chief Obasanjo and the Vice-President Yemi Osibanjo will only harden our hearts and strengthen our resolve to get Biafra in no distant future.
“As each day goes by, more and more people have come to accept the fact that the fight for Biafra cause is a genuine one.”
