IPOB blasts OBJ over anti-Biafra Comment
By David-Chyddy Eleke in Awka
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called out the former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo for calling on the group to jettison its secessionist struggle and fight for the ‘national cake’.
The statement made available to THISDAY by IPOB’s media and publicity secretary, Mr Emma Powerful, said it was not interested in the so called national cake, wondering why elders in the mold of Chief Obasanjo cannot tell the truth about the injustices faced by Ndigbo.
Part of IPOB’s release read; “We find it shameful and shocking when we heard such statement from a higy respected leader like Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who would have been in position to tell Nigerians the common truth about the resolve of IPOB and its leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to restore Biafra.
“The plots by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and his cohorts to stop us or silence the efforts by IPOB members to restore Biafra will never work, we promise them because Biafra is on lips of everybody now. The move by Chief Obasanjo and the vice president Yemi Osibanjo will only harden our hearts and strengthen our resolve to get Biafra in no distant future.
“As each day goes by more and more people have come to accept the fact that the fight for Biafra cause is a genuine one.”
The group said after 30th of May sit at home order and remembrance of 50th year anniversary; it would employ all lawful means to ‘destroy’ Nigeria and to expose them for what they are.
It said the only way to placate Biafrans and IPOB members worldwide was to organize a referendum to determine if the people Biafra still wants to stay in Nigeria or not otherwise there will be no peace until they do so.
