Wife of Bauchi State governor, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Abubakar, has commenced the distribution of food items to 14,000 women drawn from 140 women ‘tafsir’ centres across the state.
Speaking during the commencement of the distribution held over the weekend at ‘Durun’ village of Bauchi Local Government, the governor’s wife explained that the gesture was to give the beneficiaries a sense of belonging and make them happy during the fasting period.
Hajiya Abubakar said despite the paucity of funds, the government has carried out so many programmes aimed at improving the lives of women of the state such as the provision of free medical health services to pregnant and under five children and other empowerment schemes.
”I also wish to request that you ensure good upbringing of your children by giving them both moral and formal education. I urge you to engage in viable businesses for self empowerment and encourage pregnant women to go for antenatal and post natal health services so that both the mother and child will be healthy.
“On behalf of the state governor, I want to felicitate with you to please accept these items and use them in the spirit of Ramadan,” she said.
