The Sokoto State Government has said it has distributed Ramadan package worth N235 million to traditional and religious leaders in the state.
The state Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Mani Maishinko, made this known at the distribution of food items to district heads, village heads and imams in Silame Local Government area of the state Monday.
He said the gesture was part of efforts of the government to assist them with food items to conduct the Ramadan fast.
“The gesture is aimed at providing our traditional and religious leaders across the 86 districts with food items to enable them conduct their fast with ease during the Ramadan,” he explained.
According to him, the beneficiaries include district heads, village heads, chief imams of Jumm’at mosques and their deputies as well as grassroot preachers and Quranic teachers.
