The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, has said that the federal government is committed to securing the nation, just as the Muhammadu Buhari administration is determined to grow the economy of the country.
Onu made this known in Minna, Niger State on Thursday in a message delivered at the opening of a two-day workshop on “Nanotechnology and Drawing Up of National Framework for the Development and Utilisation of Nanotechnology”.
He said: “The current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to securing our nation, growing our economy, fostering sustainable and productive industries, providing jobs and wealth through building a robust, effective and resilient national system of innovation.
“Our endeavour and commitment shall remain to look inwards as a people, so as to help us produce locally many of the things we now import into the country, by commercialising research findings through working closely with the private sector.”
The minister said by so doing, the administration would be able to create wealth, eradicate poverty “and progressively re-orienting our people towards a knowledge-based innovation driven economy in line with the National Recovery and Growth plan”.
