Russians Set for Memorable Confederations cup Closing Ceremony
All good things must come to an end, and on Sunday, July 2, the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 will be concluded with a much-anticipated final.
It is not yet known which teams will walk out at the Saint Petersburg Stadium to fight it out for the Tournament of Champions winners’ trophy, but one thing is for sure: the fans can expect a memorable Closing Ceremony.
The spectacle will combine elements from the history, culture and art of Saint Petersburg, the competition’s main city, as well as motifs from the Confederations Cup, its former winners and current participants. The show is scheduled to get started at 19.15 local time and will last for approximately 20 minutes.
It goes without saying that Russian television network Channel One, who are organising the Closing Ceremony, are purposefully withholding some of the surprises planned for the show, but we do know who will be performing at the event. Polina Gagarina, Egor Kreed and DJ Smash will all be performing for the spectators at the Saint Petersburg Stadium; the latter was also involved in the Opening Ceremony, representing the Host City of Moscow.
Many other performers from Saint Petersburg, Moscow and other Russian cities will be involved on July 2 as well, including Stanislav Litvinov from the Leningrad Centre theatre, who orchestrated the first performance of the Opening Ceremony, and renowned Russian ballerina and choreographer Vera Arbuzova. During the Opening Ceremony, Arbuzova performed the solo dance from ‘The Firebird’ and she is planning something dedicated to the art of ballet itself on Sunday.
“Ballet is one of Russia’s calling cards and we have tried to make it interesting for the audience, combining classical ballet with modern dances,†said Arbuzova. “We’re not going to reveal all the dances; instead we look forward to seeing spectators and football fans at the Closing Ceremony. Make sure you come to the stadium in time!â€
