Plateau State Governor, Mr. Simon Lalong, has approved the sack of the 17 local government transition chairmen in the state with immediate effect.
Though the reason behind the sack is sketchy, THISDAY gathered that it may be connected with the preparation for the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
A statement by the governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs Emmanuel Nanle on Thursday, directed the sacked chairmen and members of their committees to immediately hand over the running of affairs of the councils to the directors of personnel management pending further actions.
The statement added that: “The governor wishes to express his profound appreciation to all members of the dissolved council management committees for their selfless service in the two years of their stewardship. He further wished them the best in all their endeavours and urges them to be available in the future for service when called upon.â€
