Runsewe Mourns Maitama Sule
- Congratulates FTAN on inauguration of executives
The Director-General of National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Segun Runsewe, has commiserated with the family of the late Yusuf Maitama Sule over his demise.
In a statement wednesday in Abuja, Runsewe said the late Sule would be remembered for his contributions towards the development of Nigeria, especially in the area of arts and culture.
According to him, as the pioneer Chairman of NCAC Board in 1975, Sule laid a solid foundation for the development of the arts and culture sector of the nation, adding that he was at the forefront of the promotion of Nigeria’s cultural values.
He further recalled that the late Sule stood against cultural imperialism and spent his entire life promoting African cultural values as the bedrock for national unity, integration, and development.
“Sule was a true patriot, a moralist who spoke openly against the vices of corruption, bad governance and discrimination along religious, political and ethnic divide.
“He was a true democrat, an apostle of the rule of law and championed the cause of democratic good governance based on the principles of free, fair and peaceful elections.
“He will be remembered as one Nigerian who spent his entire life fighting for the unity, peace and development of the Nigeria nation, Runsewe concluded.
He also congratulated the Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria (FTAN) on the successful inauguration of it executives at the just concluded annual general meeting.
Runsewe further commended the likes of Alhaji Saleh Rabo, Alhaji Nura Kangiwa, Mr. Okorie Uguru, among others on their new positions, saying that their election is well deserved.
He expressed confidence that this new executive will justify the confidence reposed in them and urged them to bring their immense wealth of experience to bear in the running of the association.
He noted that most of those elevated to the executive positions have been at the forefront of driving tourism activities in Nigeria and that the inauguration of the new executive is coming at a time the industry was in dire need of people with passion and drive to stir the ship of FTAN to the next level.
