Medical Women Plan Big for 40th Anniversary

As the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), clocks 40 this year, the group has come up with activities to make the anniversary a memorable one.
Speaking at the weekend during a press conference in Lagos to announce its forthcoming biennial general scientific meeting and 40th anniversary celebration scheduled to hold at the Sheraton Hotels and Towers and the Medical Research Centre in LASUTH on November 23 and 24 respectively.
The Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Dr. Yemisi Kila said the scientific conference was established as part of the Annual General Meeting of the association where stakeholders and policymakers come together to look into current trends in health and preventive care in the health sector.
This year, the conference will run on the theme, ‘Women Health and Empowerment Tools for Sustainable Development in the Health Sector’.
The President of MWAN Lagos Chapter, Dr. Abiola Modupe, said the association was founded in Nigeria in 1976 in Ibadan, while Lagos State Chapter was founded in 1977, making MWAN Lagos chapter 40 years this year. Adding that it was passionate about women and child health.
