VCs Set to Hold National Conference

All is now set for the 32nd national conference of vice-chancellors and principal officers across all universities in the country, under the aegis of the Conference of Association of Vice-Chancellors, scheduled to hold in Kwara State University, Malete between October 8 and 12, to discuss the way forward in university education in Nigeria.
Already the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the state Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed have signified intention to grace the occasion, while Chief Afe Babalola will present the keynote address with the title ‘University Management and Economic Challenge: The Nigeria Education Perspective’.
The Chairman, Local Organising Committee of the conference and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the host university, Professor Sakah Saidu Mahmud, told journalists that the central theme of the conference is, ‘24th Century, University Education in Nigeria, Prospect and Challenges’, while several other critical sub-themes relevant to the development of universities will be discussed by other distinguished scholars.
He expressed confidence ‎that after the conference, the country’s universities would not be the same again, as there would be remarkable improvements.
Mahmud said hosting the conference is important and strategic to the university, as the institution would explore the opportunity to showcase its excellence.
“We will expose ourselves to the world, to let them know our innovations and uniqueness which stands us tall among other universities in Nigeria.”
He added that arrangements have been concluded to make sure that the visitors visit strategic and important places in the state to know the abundant opportunities that abound before they depart.
“We have also arranged for exhibition where talented artists in the state will present their various crafts, artworks and monuments to the visitors.”
