Leon Balogun Injured again, Fractures Hand

Super Eagles dependable defender, Leon Balogun, is injured again, his Bundesliga club, Mainz 05, revealed at the weekend.
Balogun was left out of Mainz’s Bundesliga clash on Saturday against Cologne after featuring for Nigeria in the 4-2 friendly win over Argentina on Tuesday in Krasnodar, Russia.
Mainz explained on twitter sunday why the big centre-back was left out of the clash with Cologne last Saturday.
“ @LeonBalogun suffered a fracture to his left hand on Friday and has undergone surgery. Luckily, he will be able to carry on playing,†Mainz tweeted on sunday.
“Get well soon, Leon! “
Balogun recently underwent surgery for broken cheekbones and had to wear a mask while playing for the Bundesliga side and the Super Eagles. Similar injuries had forced him in the past to miss out of Eagles trips.
He’s expected to be back to action in just a couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, Balogun is one of the players to share in the World Cup 2018 qualification largess from FIFA.
Reports claimed at the weekend that Eagles are expected to pocket 30 per cent of the $9.5million expected from FIFA.
The Mainz defender who starred in nearly all the matches of the qualification series is in line to have a piece of the about $3million coming to the team. It may even be higher is Eagles progress from the group phase into the knock out rounds.
Another Super Eagles stalwart who is also down with injury is Chelsea star, Victor Moses.
The Chelsea wing-back sunday hailed his English Premier League teammates over the 4-0 away victory at West Bromwich Albion last Saturday.
The victory came from Eden Hazard (brace), Alvaro Morata and Marcos Alonso.
The 2017 Nigeria Sports Award Footballer of the Year winner is also shortlisted for the 2017 BBC and CAF African Footballer of the Year award.
Moses hailed the Blues players on his twitter handle sunday.
“Boys are on fire, another massive win come on the chels #CFC,†the Super Eagles forward noted of the away win.
Chelsea is now placed third on the EPL table.
The defending champion has gathered 25 point while Manchester City and Manchester United settle for the first and second positions on 34 and 26 points respectively.
