The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has brought succour to traders affected by last week’s fire disaster at Nguru market in Yobe State.
The fire incident destroyed part of the market, leading to the loss of property and wares put at several millions of naira.
According to a statement signed by Sani Datti, NEMA’s Head of Media and Public Relations, the agency delivered relief items to assist the 149 affected traders in the rebuilding of their burnt shops.
Datti said: “The Director General of NEMA, Mr. Mustapha Maihaja said the items would be distributed directly to affected victims by the team of the agency together with market committee members.
“He (Maihaja) sympathised with the traders on behalf of the federal government. He said the items were provided as palliative measures.”
