Unemployment: Use Recovered Loot to Create Jobs for Youths, Buhari Urged
Hammed Shittu in Ilorin
The Spiritual Father of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement of Nigeria Worldwide, ‘Ayo Ni o’ (C&S) Most Rev Samuel Abidoye has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to make use of all the recovered looted funds to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in the country.
This, he said, would go a long way in reducing the high rate of unemployment among the teeming youths and also stem the reported cases of ritual killings and other social vices in the country.
Abidoye gave the advice at the recent 77th annual conference of the church held along Ilorin-Ogbomoso road, Orile-Igbon, and added that, “the high rate of unemployed youths in the country has continued to be alarming and all efforts should be put on ground by the government to bring the situation into the barest minimum.â€
According to him, “I want to say that President Buhari should assist the unemployed youths in the country by making use of the recovered looted funds to create jobs for them in order to reduce the suffering being faced by these unemployed youth.â€
The clergyman, who commended the Buhari administration on recovery of looted fund from politicians, advised him not to relent, saying corruption had eaten deep into the fabric of the nation, while youth wander streets in search of jobs.
He also called on Nigerians to support the current administration in its effort at implementing people-oriented programmes aimed at making lives better for the people.
The nonagenarian flayed some church leaders in the country for always promoting preaching on prosperity instead of salvation, and said such acts had increased love of money, criminality and materialism among Christian youth.
“Ritual killing and kidnapping are all because of quick money. It’s a wrong way to look for money. People should stop. What do they really want? You can’t even take this money along when you die. We should think of nurturing our youth for future greatness since we will leave them behind when we’ve gone. If not they are used for war and other social ills when they are jobless or useless for national growthâ€, he said.
He also said the church should lead by example, adding that the display of affluence among some men of God had attracted the devil into the church, while calling on the rich ones to assist the poor ones in the society.
Abidoye also called on Nigerians to give President Buhari a second term in office for him to have the needed time to make the country great again.
“As far as I’m concerned, President Buhari is doing very good; what he has been doing since he assumed office with particular reference to the recovery of the nation’s stolen money has never been done by any government in this country before.
“In view of this, he needs more time to do this work very well in order to make Nigeria great again, so Nigerians should consider him for second term in office, let’s give him time to do moreâ€, he added.
The cleric also urged Nigerians to ensure that all hands are on the deck to make the country reclaim her glory as the true giant of Africa.
“We don’t need to go anywhere, we have everything in abundance in terms of manpower and human development, we can all make Nigeria great again,†he said.
