Ekweremadu: No Honeymoon for New PDP Leadership

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has tasked the Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PD) to get down to work immediately saying there is no honeymoon for the new leadership.
Ekweremadu, in a statement also commended the party’s faithful for a credible and hitch-free national convention, noting that the party had lived up to its name.
He said: “I congratulate Secondus-led NWC on their election in a free, fair, credible, transparent, and indeed democratic manner. The PDP has set an example, which other political parties will have to emulate to deepen the nation’s democracy.
“Importantly, I believe that 2019 is a comeback year for the PDP because distraught Nigerians look up to our great party. However, there is a lot of work to be done and party faithful expect members of the new NWC to hit the ground running because they have no luxury of a honeymoon.
“We expect them to start the process of galvanising party faithful to reposition the PDP and mobilise Nigerians towards building a Nigeria of our dreamsâ€.
Ekweremadu urged party members and Nigerians to support the PDP NWC to deliver on its mandate.
Also, Former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi-Kayode, has congratulated Mr. Secondus, following his election as the national chairman of the PDP).
An elated Fani-Kayode stated that with the election of Secondus, the party must be “ready and prepared to fight for a greater cause and to stand against a vicious, corrupt, deceitful, relentless and rapacious enemy that has divided our country, that has destroyed our economy and that has persecuted, marginalised, humiliated, demonised, massacred and pauperised our people.â€
The former minister also commended and congratulatedformer President Goodluck Jonathan; former Vice President Abubakar Atiku, Senator Ahmed Makarfi and others on their profound and inspiring speeches at the convention.
He added:“We must now all set aside our differences and prepare to face the monumental challenge that lay ahead; we must be ready Together we shall ‘change the change’ and ‘burn the brooms’ in 2019; together we shall raise the PDP flag in every part of this nation and send Buhari and his evil APC government back to hell where they came from.â€
