Senate President Bukola Saraki and nine other senators are currently meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House over Saraki’s allegation that the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, was plotting to frame him up in a case involving some suspected cultists arrested in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
]The ongoing meeting is sequel to a resolution passed by the upper legislative chamber last Wednesday following the alarm raised by Saraki that the IG’s decision to transfer the suspects from Ilorin to Abuja for trial was a ploy to frame him up.
The IG has however dismissed the allegation as untrue, submitting however that nobody, no matter how highly placed, would be allowed to obstruct the course of justice.
In the Senate delegation besides Saraki are the Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan, Chief Whip, Olusola Adeyeye, Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, Senator Danjuma Goje, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Senator Fatimat Raji-Rasaki, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Senator Aliyu Wamakko and Senator Sam Egwu.
